Preheat oven to 425 F.
Prepare pastry for two 2-crust (9 inch) pies.
Place Tree Top evaporated apples, juice and salt in covered saucepan.
Bring to boil and simmer 25 minutes or until tender. Stir occasionally.
Blend sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add this and lemon juice to apples.
Bring mixture back to near boil. Mix cornstarch and cold water and add
this slurry to apples. Cook until mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
Cool. Place filling in two pastry-lined 9 inch pie pans. Dot with
butter and add top pastry.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
