Freestone Bloom in California

February 16, 2016 | 0 min read

The earliest blooming stone fruit varieties came out at the beginning of last week in the Fresno area. They were a few days behind last year, but the current stretch of warm weather has helped to push more varieties out along with the almond bloom in much of the state. The weather has been dry and warm for about a week, and this should allow for a good set in many orchards, however, varieties that require cross pollination can suffer in weather that is too warm at bloom.
