California strawberry producers had slightly better production overall in 2014 than in 2013 on less acreage according to the Processing Strawberry Advisory Board’s annual report. The farm value of the product was also substantially higher in 2014 than in 2013. The acreage reduction in 2015 is twice as great as it was in 2014, and it may reduce overall production, but the switch to higher producing varieties this year could offset some of that and keep overall production levels close to what they were in 2014.
