California Strawberry March 14, 2019

March 14, 2019 | 0 min read

The California strawberry crop is off to the slowest start in more than ten years. The cold weather in California in February has slowed the development of the crop significantly. The amount of boxes harvested for the fresh market is the lowest of the past ten years to date, and it looks to continue to be slow. Fresh market pricing is high as a result of this. It is difficult to predict if this will impact future fruit production by having larger crops in a few weeks when the weather warms up, but the lost volume for this time of year will not likely be made up later on.
