The California strawberry fresh market has been decreasing in price over the past week. The supply of fruit is not excessive, but the post Easter movement of fruit has been slow, and prices have declined. There is some volume being moved to the freezer and juice channels right now, but most growers are attempting to make it to the Mother’s Day market before turning to processing. The crop is still producing well with lots of small fruit still to come in the next few weeks, but the daily volume numbers are not at record levels as they were last year.
