California Strawberry 5-26-2016

May 26, 2016 | 1 min read

California strawberry production the past two weeks has been very strong. The fields in California are looking very good, and production is set to be high for the next month or more in fields that have converted to processing. The amount of fruit being processed this year has been lower than last year by thirty eight million pounds year to date. The past week has had volumes similar to last year. The current week should be a little larger than last week for processing volume, but it may not be as large as this same week last year. More fields will be turned to processing next week, but it does not seem that the state has enough time this season to catch up to the total volume of fruit that was processed last year.
