California Strawberry 11-23-2015

November 23, 2015 | 0 min read

Strawberry plantings for fall continue in California. The Oxnard district (top) has been harvesting berries for a few weeks from fall planted acreage. The Santa Maria district (bottom) is a little later in their planting cycle with some fields still needing to be planted. Early estimates have California fall acreage down about 4,500 acres from last year. Oxnard looks to have 2,500 less acres with Santa Maria down 1,100 and Watsonville 900. The official estimate won’t be released until January, but early indications are for acreage numbers to drop by this much for the 2016 harvest.
