California Pear 6-11-2015

June 11, 2015 | 0 min read

The California pear harvest will get underway in a few weeks. One main concern this year is the amount of Fire Blight in the orchards in California. This has been one of the worst seasons for this in many years. Growers are having to cut out large sections of their trees in some cases to combat this problem. Fruit sizing is still a concern as well since the bloom was so long this year. There are many small pears on the trees along with larger ones. Picking this years crop may be difficult as a result of this.
