The California fresh market peach crop is moving along through varieties this season. The Crimson Lady and Spring Flame 21 varieties are being finished at some sheds currently. The season has gone well for quality and shipping with the exception of some small size fruit. There has also been some problems with fruit ripening quickly in the orchards this year. That is happening even though the weather has been cooler than normal for the past few weeks. The fast ripening is making it difficult for the growers to get the fruit picked before it turns soft. There have been slightly higher than average cull rates as a result of this.
