USDA cold storage numbers still show low volumes of freezer grade fruit in inventory versus the five year average. The strawberries delivered to processors for freezing through last week in the month of April have also been low, with 15 million pounds of freezer grade and 7 million pounds of juice for the month to date, so little change will be made to these numbers until more processing fruit comes in. The freezer season should get underway with larger volumes after the middle of May, but it does not look like the volume will be as large on a weekly basis as it was last year. Production in the state is steady, but the larger weekly volume numbers that happened in 2018 are not likely to be repeated this season.
