PNW Blueberry

August 13, 2015 | 0 min read

Blueberry harvest is wrapping up around the Pacific Northwest with only late varieties still being picked. Even with record heat in some areas the fruit quality has been exceptional this year. Some early varieties were affected by the high temperatures, but since then the weather has moderated some, and quality has been great. Growers are getting over $2.00/lb. for fresh market blueberries, and IQF prices are between $1.00-$1.25/lb. With quality being high, and strong demand for both fresh and frozen, there are lower quantities of juice and puree grade fruit available this season. The price for juice fruit has settled at $0.28-$0.33/lb. which is up from $0.20-$0.25/lb. we saw the last few seasons.
