California processing strawberry volume dropped again last week from the previous week according to the Processing Strawberry Advisory Board of California’s published information. The overall volume for the year is still the highest of the past 5 years, but the week to week volume has now slowed for the third week in a row. California growers delivered just under 11 million pounds of #1 grade fruit last week to processors. It looks like this could remain at this level until the middle of May. Fresh market prices are strong currently and are expected to stay so until at least Mother’s Day. It is likely that the year to date volume listed above for 2015 will fall behind 2013 levels by the end of this current week.
