California Strawberry Acreage 2-4-2016

February 4, 2016 | 0 min read

In the California Strawberry Commission Acreage Survey report it shows a decline in acreage planted in California for production in 2016. The reduced acreage is a result of economic factors along with water and labor issues in the state. The reduction in the Oxnard district puts it back to acreage levels not seen in over ten years, with Santa Maria acreage similar to 2008 plantings. The reduced acreage will have an impact on how the crop is marketed this year.
