The year to date processed strawberry volume in the state of California continues to be small even with recent weather events. Rain storms hit the strawberry growing areas last week, but the volume of fruit sent to processors (although larger than other weeks this year) was smaller than comparable events a few years ago. Many growing operations kept picking right through the rain events, and they generated less juice grade fruit than they would have had they not done so. The demand for juice grade fruit is starting to inch up. Freezer grade volume has also been very light so far this year. It will most likely remain so for a few more weeks.
