California strawberries delivered for processing so far this season are running a little ahead of last year, but the volume coming in the weeks ahead will determine what the overall processed pounds will be this year. Some previous years have had a larger start to the season and ended with much lower overall volume. The current demand and pricing in the industry should generate less fruit this season than last year. There are also other quality issues popping up in places in the state currently that may limit the supply as well.
