Freezer grade strawberry volume in the state of California is at the lowest amount year to date since 2008. Juice grade volume is running ahead of the past five years, but freezer grade fruit to processors has seen much lower volume this season. With June being the largest month typically for this grade of fruit, it looks like California will most likely end the season lower than the past two years. The volume of fruit going into the processing channels has been affected by lower pricing, less fruit volume on the plants, and a good fresh market this year.
