The pear crop in California seems to be developing well. The crop does not appear to be extremely heavy, but there is a good crop of pears in the state. There are areas that are under water stress, but overall most areas seem to be OK with water for irrigation this summer. It looks like there will be heavy demand for processing grade fruit this year. Crop timing seems to be close to seasonal averages. The cold conditions that have affected stone fruit in areas of the state seem to not have had the same affect on the pear crop. So far it seems there should be at least an average size crop in California this year.
