The California strawberry fresh market has had a slow down of production in April this year. The normal jump in volume expected from March to April only increased slightly over what it traditionally does. The month of March this year was the largest volume month for March of the past three years, but the first four weeks in April have been the slowest ones in the past three years. Last week actually had the slowest volume of fruit delivered for that week in the year since 2007. The slow volume is keeping the fresh price strong. The processing markets may end up waiting a while until more fruit becomes available.
