The block by block estimate recently released for California cling peach production came in 24,000 tons lower than the earlier prethinning estimate. The lower number would represent the smallest crop in the recent past if it proves to be so. It would more closely follow what is happening in the freestone crop in California, so it is very likely that the lower number is correct. The lower estimate would represent a 4% decrease from what was produced last year.
