Apricot production in California’s main growing area will be off significantly this year due to poor bloom conditions. The combination of a warm winter and poor weather at bloom time seems to have hurt the apricot crop in the Patterson area of the state. The crop bloom was very light in almost all orchards. The state produced 42,000 tons in 2017, but it is likely that the crop will be off significantly from those numbers in 2018.
