Stale, over-sized bags of pet food, move aside – there are new players in town.
Pet’s are people too! Well, sort of. And pet owners want to treat their pets like part of the family. Pet owners are much more likely to buy food they believe is more nutritious, fresher, and tastier for their pets. That means food with a more appetizing texture (wet food), natural ingredients or including specialty foods.
One of my colleagues told me she was impressed when she heard the founder of The Female Farmer Project, Audra Mulkern, speak at a recent conference about women in agriculture. Because I often interact with our Tree Top farmers—both men and women—I was intrigued enough to poke around a bit and find out more about the project.
