Pet’s are people too! Well, sort of. And pet owners want to treat their pets like part of the family. Pet owners are much more likely to buy food they believe is more nutritious, fresher, and tastier for their pets. That means food with a more appetizing texture (wet food), natural ingredients or including specialty foods.
One of my colleagues told me she was impressed when she heard the founder of The Female Farmer Project, Audra Mulkern, speak at a recent conference about women in agriculture. Because I often interact with our Tree Top farmers—both men and women—I was intrigued enough to poke around a bit and find out more about the project.
Last month Tree Top participated in a community event supporting the Yakima, Wash., Police Department K-9 unit. It was a great opportunity to mix and mingle with our neighbors and four-footed friends. While the event was focused on raising funds to replace one of the K9 dog retirees, it got me thinking about feeding man's best friend.
