California Apricot April 27, 2020

4/27/2020  By Dan Winiecke
California Apricot April 27, 2020The California apricot crop used for processing has not set well this season. The crop is estimated to be around the same size it was in 2018. The short supply of fruit will most likely increase field pricing as it did in 2018. Labor to pick the light crop may be difficult to find and will cost more due to the lack of fruit on the trees. Fresh market apricot varieties in the central part of the state seem to have set better, but there are also orchards with hail damage in that area. Washington state orchards are reported to have had crop reductions this season due to cold weather.
